Porsche 997.2 Turbo
Just fitted a Milltek resonated exhaust on my '08 R8! Man...what a sound...should have done this ages ago. It's not too loud, just a little louder, and enough that I'm driving everywhere with the window cracked open!
Milltek Sport has become well known throughout the Porsche tuning world for its dual-personality performance exhaust solutions for the first generation Porsche 997 Turbo (the 3.6 model) and now their development engineers have used the same design philosophy to create a system for the later 997 3.8 Turbo model, or 997 Gen2 Turbo if you will.

The outcome? An even more aggressive tone which is quite simply addictive in the upper RPM range

By dual-personality we mean that it not only has to be freer-flowing to reduce back pressure (allowing for more performance headroom) as well as make a sportier/deeper exhaust note – fairly par for the course for a performance exhaust system you could argue. However, in addition to this, the Milltek system also had to be able to pass the increasingly stringent EC homologation tests that would allow it to be sold throughout Europe and an increasing number of countries beyond.

To build anything truly exceptional you need to start with the highest-quality components and Milltek’s engineers chose to build their system around the latest ‘HD’ (High Durability) 200 cell hi-flow sports catalyst from HJS Motorsport; a German manufacturer who’s been providing the highest-quality catalysts for road, track and race cars for more than 20 years.

The HD catalysts are the highest specification available providing real tangible benefits in gas flow as well as maintaining better OBD compliance (compatibility with your cars’ emission control systems) and, higher levels of durability at greater power outputs – regardless of whether the intended use is driving flat-out around a race track or simply commuting to and from work every day.

For everyday use, Milltek developed a small-volume rear silencer with smoother inlet and outlet pipework which results in reduced back pressure, drone-free cruising and yet, still delivers on the trademark Milltek Sport sporting sound at wide open throttle.

Milltek has certainly nailed the initial design brief but even so its engineers decided to utilise all of their, nigh-on 30 years’ experience, to develop a separate track-focussed special edition of the exhaust which employs a different rear silencer design.

The outcome? An even more aggressive tone which is quite simply addictive in the upper RPM range.

The new track-focussed silencer design has evolved into our ‘Cup’ specification and will feature in all of Milltek’s future Porsche exhaust developments.
